I think I'm gonna like it here

I have to work this week four days in a row, never my favorite. Three and a half days of class, a day and a half on the floor. Today is the half day class/half day on the floor, and they are the worst because it is so awkward to come on mid-shift and try and pick things up.

However, no complaints, because yesterday was like the best weather day ever. Just that perfect temperature, not warm, not cool, just like that temperature that you can't feel at all, plus like one degree. It was gorgeous.

Also, did I mention I got a raise? Like six weeks on the job at the hospital is doing so well they gave everyone a 3.5% raise. It works out to almost another dollar an hour. How sweet is that? So far I'm really liking this working-man stuff.

  1. Hey from Charlotte. Can I borrow some money since your bank account is getting so plump? My new home needs so many things..... ::wink:: The weather EVERYWHERE seems to be nice - even Las Vegas. I love this season.

  2. Reason number 1 why I don't want to become a nurse.....apparently I need to be up at 5 freak'in 46 AM in the morning!!! I'd be fired week one for sleeping on the job. Goodbye $1.00 raise :)

  3. the song "Everybody's working for the weekend" runs through my mind each time I get my pay stub.

And since there was no "preemptive 'shut up'" this time, you would have gotten a bigger pay raise had you stayedd in ABQ. Ofcourse, you wwould have lost the Arts, Culture, good food, amazing farmers markets, short trips to NYC, killer armoir finds at thrift stores, nightly concerts at the Capital...

...all for that 5% increase. sorry your missing out, buddy.

  4. I know I already shared, but I have to comment to "Col". What about all the culture, farmer's markets, cool Indian stuff, short trips to Santa Fe, awesome hiking, the arroyo, wildlife almost outside your backyard, etc. in Albuquerque??? Hm??? I really miss NM. But heh, money speaks. (I really like Capitol Hill, too)

  5. Life is full of trade-offs. There was a lot I loved about Albuquerque, and I'm really glad I had the chance to live there for so long. (In my life, three years is a long time.) But for now I'm content with the change. Added bonus: if our country gets hit by a nuclear attack, I'll die instantly here instead of becoming a radiated mutant who can only live on brains. I don't like brains much, I'd rather be an angel at that point I think.

And today is a class day so I got to sleep in until 6:15! Take that Miss Chevious!

  7. crazy.brains....arg!

And thanks for pointing out the benefits of NM living, peggyfaa. You've convinced me once and for all that NM is way better than DC (even our abbreviations sound better).

And Robb, you do know that ABQ has more nukes in it than any other location in America, right? All thanks to KAFB and Sandia Labs.

  9. Okay, I fully acknowledge that it's weird I enjoy getting up at 4:00am so I can have some "quality time" with myself (don't read anything dirty into that, please) before work. It's a bizarre day-shifter thing. But the whole losing a night of sleep and trying to make up for it during the day, but never quite making it, that's also a bit crazy. Perpetual sleep deprivation depresses me horribly. So I admire those of you who can pull it off with grace and no-psychoses!

  12. Will you answer your darn phone or at least gimme a call back, before you talk to mom? i don't care how much you've been working over the last couple of days! it's common courtesy to call your baby brother back when he says he wants to talk to you! :)

  13. i also want to add to mom's comment by saying that a certain favorite brother of yours is having a birthday very very soon!
